Psalm 21 - Victory

One thing you may have noticed about the book of Psalm is that it is easy to get on a downer and develop a "woe is me" attitude.

Not today's chapter! Today we get to focus on the fact that God delivers us from the hard times and the trials and gives us victory!

Is there a better feeling? Being victorious?

For many years I was involved in different competitive sporting events. I can think of nothing that parallels life more than the "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat"!

Athletes spend countless hours
  • preparing their bodies and minds for competition.
  • suffering pain and agony through countless practice sessions.
  • putting every ounce of energy in pursuit of their goal and that being to come out victorious - to win!
It makes all the work, sweat, and sheer dread quite worth it all!

This Psalm is written as a victory celebration to God for the success of the king. It feels like an answer to the prayer that was waged on his behalf in Psalm 20 (go back and read it !)

Well, it's Monday! Yet another practice day.....another day to prepare our minds and bodies for the ultimate victory that is ours!!

Oh, how I wish, that those that could relate to the words of Psalm 20 will experience the victory that is chronicled in today's psalm and that together we will be able to cry out:

Be exalted, O Lord, in Your strength.
We will sing and praise Your might!
(v.13)
